Okay. Of all the records you put up here over the course of the past - what is it? - three months, this is easily the best (read: only good) album you blogged about. In all honesty, it is a work of art. Unfortunately, progressing a band from "emo" to anything else but emo is not only difficult but damn near impossible. Emo has had a stigma for at least the past fifteen years, and, I mean, in a way, rightfully so. It isn't, stylistically, any good. At all, really. And if I have to hear one more song about a good-looking guy not being man enough for his girlfriend to stick with him (see: Dashboard Confessional), I may make my own emo album about why I hate emo music. (A digression: the term "emo" bothers me. As an abbreviation for "emotional," I'm left wondering - is all other music unemotional? And if so, why are people making it!) Irregardless, Jesse Lacey and Brand New have successfully conquered the arduous task of transforming a band's official tag. In this case, emo to alternative. And a job well-done.

I completely forgot about that, but now that you mention it, I do remember sitting outside on the curb.

We were waiting for Emily to drive down from Boston to pick us up, because the commuter rail out of Providence stopped running after 11. And then we got kicked out of the bar and had to sit on the curb!

1. Although if this was my list, Brand New would appear twice (no Deja Entendu on your list!), I am pleased to see that they made it once. I have to say that The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me may be my favorite albumn of the decade. It was the only thing I listened to in my car for a solid six months after its release.

2. And yes, after the first Brand New show in years, you and I actually met Vin Accardi. What I don't remember though is why we were in the bar for so long after the show. I mean, obviously, no complaints, I just don't remember why we were the only people still in that bar.
